Chemo brain and false information

It pains me to know that there are professionals out there giving poor information. I saw a nurse navigator today for the cancer teams at Virtua. I was able to explain something or another and it was evident that brain was in good working order.... Oh I know, I noticed where someone left their paper work also and they were looking for it and I told them where they left it---. So I commented that I was glad not to have chemo brain so far.  And she went on to say that learning something new and brain games and exercises would make a difference. I seriously doubted her. So I came home and looked it on 3 cancer websites.... and sure enough her information is false. Brain games are useless according to the research. They are not sure which "Chemo cocktails" do damage to the brain, but that is where chemo brain comes from.  It has nothing to do with your behavior. It is about cell damage. Just like progressive dementia. You either get it or you don't and it is unlikely to get much better over time. So here is this lovely RN giving out bad information to patients. And then after a year or two they come to us cuz they are wondering why they have not gotten much better, after all, it has been over  X amount of years and they still have mild cognitive impairment.

I think I will set up a visit with them! PS- when I contacted them they did not return my calls or emails. I guess they are not interested. Oh Well. their loss.
