I have so much to say! I want to write why my breasts are not the
"Girls" and Why it is okay that people who are getting these emails
aren't able to read them but for now I want to send this in honor of my
new friend Shari Hennes.
Everyone in life
deserves a friend who can tell you it will be alright, you are exactly
where you need to be. It is super great if that person happens to be one
of your parents. I am doing that for my wonderful daughter Madison even
when she challenges my patience and kindness beyond belief. I offer
that to my clients at work as well. You are on track kiddo- This is also
what you need to know to keep going- Good work! YIPEE!
For
me, with becoming cancer free, Shari is that person for me. She has
been down this road before and Shari is mentoring me in the ways I
desire- to change my lifestyle so I can be happy, joyous and free. If
there was a 12- step program for people "recovering" from a cancer prone
lifestyle, she would be called my sponsor. For now I call her my
mentor. I know I wont be able to do it exactly as she does. But I am on
that same road to health now. And she honors my differences without
judgment and gives me what I need when I am ready. She is also patient
and kind. And I can contact her at any time for whatever I need.
I
love the Berkshire mountains and Shari lives out side of Boston- she
also comes to NYC from time to time. I am confident that one day we will
actually met in person- either at Kripalu for a great class or retreat
together or in the city for a day of friendship and fun. So my dear
Shari- You are a gift to me at this peculiar time in my life as I
embrace the unknown for me in the world of Cancer recovery, one day at a
time, for the rest of my life.
Thank you
also to my former husband Philip. For creating enough distress in my
life by falling in love with me, so that I sought out the help I needed
to recognize that I too was unhealthy which lead me into the recovery
from my worst enemy of all. FEAR. And now, because of Shari, I have a
true life line and I have nothing to fear. As always, God have given me
everything I need to do this well. Thank you Lord for loving me so
deeply and fully.
My friend Joanne shared this wonderful poem and now I am sharing it with all of you.
Litany Against Fear
I do not fear.
Fear is the mind killer.
Fear is the little death that brings obliteration.
I face my fear.
I permit fear to pass over me and through me.
And when the fear has gone past me I turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I remain.
